GREENING YOUR ELECTRICITY
Electricity is both financially and environmentally costly. By "greening" our electrical consumption, we can lighten the impact to our wallets and to our planet. Consider the following tips to help keep your utility costs down and conserve global energy:
- Unplug electronics that sleep on a standby setting. Standby settings continue to pull a current.
- Keep your house cool by moving air through the house with a ceiling fan, instead of air conditioning.
- Use compact fluorescent light bulbs, also known as energy saving bulbs (follow disposal directions).
- Wait until you have a full load before running your dishwasher.
- Use motion sensor lights inside and outside of your home.
- Your lighting may be dimmed by dust. Keeping your bulbs and fixtures free from dust may lower your wattage need.
- Inventory your home energy usage with a Home Energy Audit.
